Her Story
Chasity Michelle Shorter was born on July 13, 2004 to Vincent Shorter and India Craig in Merrillville, IN. She was a bright spirit to everyone that knew her. Chasity aspired to become a medical assistant, but more than anything she wanted to be a wife and mother as she anxiously awaited her baby boy. Her life was unexpectedly taken on May 16, 2025 at the young age of 20. She is survived by her parents Vincent (Megan) Shorter and India (Steven) Craig; 5 sisters: Ashely Shorter, Lourdes Craig, Jayda Starks, J’Nyia Starks, Journeigh Craig; 7 brothers: Steven Craig, Jr., Savion Shorter, Vincent Shorter Jr., Bryson Shorter, Joseph Craig, Saint Craig, Unborn (TBD); grandparents: Laffyet Shorter, Rosalind Jackson, Willie James Johnson, Angie Johnson, Ernest Craig, Robin Craig; great-grandmother: Cynthia Calhoun; uncles: Donté Hicks, Ryan Hicks, Louis Blacknell; aunts: Arnitrice Mance, Bianca Mance, Jacqueline Craig, Jessica Craig; and a host of family and friends.
