Bernadette Zimmerman Lewis

Bernadette ‘Bern’ Zimmerman Lewis

March 5, 1978 – September 24, 2009

Toledo, Ohio

Bernadette Lewis, at the tender age of 31, passed away unexpectedly from complications of child birth. Bernadette was born to Ann and Mark Zimmerman in Toledo. She graduated from Whitmer High School and was pursuing her accounting degree.

Bernadette is survived by her devoted husband, Brandon; her infant son, Brandon II; her loving mother, Ann Zimmerman, and father, Mark Zimmerman; her sister, Nicole Haggarty; grandmother, Audru Zimmerman; special aunts, Mary Terry, Cathy Marchetti, and Shari Barnes; mother-in-law, Brenda Lewis; grandmother in-law, Bea Weirich, and an extended family of caring uncles, cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Ann Haggarty; her grandfather, James H. Zimmerman, and uncles, Frances Haggarty, Pat Haggarty and Jim Terry.

Bernadette was a gentle, caring soul who was wholly dedicated to her family and friends. She was “on top of the world” when she was in the company of her loved ones. “Bern”, as she was affectionately known, had an incredible sense of humor. She was always good for a funny story or comical moment: Bern was one feisty little red-head that loved to laugh! In fact, her laugh was so distinct and infectious, she usually made things more fun for everyone she was near.

Throughout her years, Bernadette proved to truly enjoy the simple things in life. She was a lover of animals, especially of her dog Trixie, and she had a natural ability with kids – children absolutely adored her! She was also known to be especially fond of the Michigan Wolverines, traveling to the Jersey shore, playing poker, and shopping of all kinds (but particularly with her Aunt Mare). Although Bern will be deeply missed by everyone that knew her, the light she cast during her life will continue to shine – always.
