Her Story

Currie-Hill Beeson Velie, age 35, her 2 year-old son, Joseph John Velie IV, and unborn son, Jack Jasper Velie, were murdered September 6 at their home in Coconut Grove.

Currie and her husband, Joe, created ESP Events, Inc., a special events company serving the Greater Miami area and beyond. She was a graduate of Darien, Connecticut High School and the University of Connecticut at Storrs. was an upbeat, positive role model for her family, friends and employees. She loved her new role as a mother to her 2 year-old son, Little Joe, and was happily awaiting the October 21 arrival of son, Jack.

She was an energetic and inspiring woman who passionately loved her family and the outdoors. Joe Velie, husband and father, wrote: “My life with Currie was a gift. A gift that opened each day with a hug and a kiss. A gift that grew together as a couple and as a family. She was my soul mate, my business partner, my best friend, the mother of my children, and most of all, the light of my life.”

Currie-Hill Velie and her beloved children, Joe and Jack will remain in our hearts forever. They are survived by family members: Joe Velie III, Susie, Bry, and Helen Beeson, of Orford, NH; Jennifer Beeson of Coconut Grove; Bonnie Fallon of Brookfield, VT, Leila Mack of Tustin, CA; several devoted cousins. Dianalee Velie of Newbury, NH, Joseph John Velie, Sr., Fay Velie, Sophie Boccellatto, all of New Port Richey, Phyllis Crimmins of Stamford, CT, and other relatives including Alison Jasper of Rowayton, CT and Shiorina Morita of New Jersey.
