Her Story
Denise M. Slovak (nee Falvo), 39, of Lexington Parkway, Niskayuna, from complications arising out of childbirth, in the early morning of July 4, 2006.
Baby Jessica Grace Slovak was born at St. Clare’s Hospital on the 4th of July 2006.
Denise was born on April 15, 1967 in Schenectady, the daughter of Frank L. Falvo and the late Grace M. Romano Falvo (2002). She was a 1985 graduate of the former Linton High School and had attended Herkimer Valley Community College. Several years later, she joined the family business as an insurance broker and served as vice president of the F.L. Falvo Agency in Schenectady. Denise was a member of (P.I.A.) Professional Insurance Agents of America and volunteered her time with several organizations.
She worked as a volunteer for breast cancer research, contributed to the success of St. Clare’s Follies and coached Special Olympics. Denise played organized mixed softball for the City Justice League at Central Park and was an enthusiastic New York Yankees fan.
She married Michael S. Slovak on October 13, 2001 at St. Mary’s Church in Schenectady.
She was predeceased by her mother in January 2002 as well as her maternal grandparents, Joseph and Carmella Romano.
She leaves her loving husband, Michael; son, Joseph P. Slovak and newborn daughter, Jessica Grace; her father, Frank L. Falvo; her brothers, Frank J. Falvo and his wife Noelle, Daniel L. Falvo and his wife Tammy of Rexford and David N. Falvo of Natick, Mass. She is survived by her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Peter and Bonnie Slovak of Rotterdam and sister-in-law, Christine S. Primiano and her husband Anthony of Schenectady. Denise was the special niece to the Reverend Joseph Romano of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. Several aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
