Lauren and her husband, Nikolas Frer were eagerly awaiting the arrival of their daughter, Maggie; along big brother, Izaiah and extended family. Lauren had the gift of making connections, her presence left an indelible mark on every life she touched. She had the uncanny ability to bring comfort to those in need, and her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her spirit touched everyone she encountered.
Lauren was born on September 30, 1997 in Rockford; daughter of Margaret (Carlson) Kaczmarek. She graduated from Belvidere North High School, class of 2016. She graduated from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and she later became an Accredited Respiratory Therapist through Rock Valley College. She was employed at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital of Janesville; prior to her position there she was employed as a Respiratory Therapist at Advocate Sherman in Elgin. Lauren chose to become a Respiratory Therapist because her nurturing nature compelled her to help others. She devoted her life to ensuring that those around her could breathe easier, both literally and metaphorically. It was a calling that suited her perfectly, as she always put others first, prioritizing their needs and well-being above her own.
Lauren married her best friend and love of her life, Nikolas Frer on January 11, 2024. They enjoyed spending time together in nature; trail walking, hiking, camping and exploring state parks on weekends. As a wife, Lauren was simply the best. She had a unique way of making Nikolas’ days brighter, no matter the situation or circumstance. Whether they were celebrating life’s joys or navigating its challenges, she was his unwavering support and greatest cheerleader. Lauren was not just his partner; she was his best friend and his shoulder to lean on. Her laughter was his favorite sound, and her smile could light up the darkest of days.
Lauren had a deep bond with her dog, Blue, whom she called her “soulmate”. As a dog mom, she showered her furry friends with the same love and devotion she gave to everyone else. Nikolas had no doubt that she would have been the most incredible mother, showering their future children with the same warmth and kindness that she gave everyone. Lauren was an artist at heart, she was incredibly creative and skilled at making beautiful pieces out of resin; a talent she enjoyed sharing with others.
Lauren had a gift for making connections, and her presence left an amazing mark on every life she touched. She had an uncanny ability to bring comfort to those in need, and her legacy of love will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. Nikolas’ heart aches with her absence, he has found solace in knowing that Lauren continues to give the gift of life to others, though her selfless decision to be an organ donor. Her spirit lives on in the lives she has saved and the countless people she inspired.
