Her Story
Sarah (Dynia) Izquierdo, age 37, beloved wife of Luis Izquierdo, passed away, after giving birth to her newborn daughter, Ayla Izquierdo, on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at St. Francis Hospital.
Sarah was born in Hartford, CT, and raised in Enfield, where she graduated from Enfield High School with the Class of 2004, where she played varsity field hockey. She pursued higher education at the University of Connecticut, furthering her passion for teaching with a Masters in Education from San Diego State University.
Sarah dedicated her life to positively shaping and engaging young minds, beginning her teaching career in California and most recently working as a Special Education teacher at the Henry Barnard School in Enfield. She previously taught at Eli Whitney School, leaving an indelible mark on her students and colleagues.
Outside of the classroom, Sarah embraced the great outdoors, finding joy in hiking and the serenity of the beach. She was an avid bowler and a devoted fan of the Boston Red Sox and UConn sports teams. Her vibrant spirit and love for life were evident to all who knew her.
Sarah’s legacy of love continues through her family. In addition to her devoted husband, Luis, and their two children, Wyatt and newborn, Ayla, she also leaves behind her loving parents, Jill and Michael Dynia, her dear brother, Kevin Dynia, his wife, Yana and their son, Leon, her mother-in-law, Brigitte Izquierdo, sister-in-law, Veronica Izquierdo, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins who will miss her deeply. Sarah’s warmth, dedication, and love for her family and students will be forever remembered and cherished.
