Who She Was

Her Story

Our beautiful Shandie Case, 25, as well as her unborn baby boy, whom we believe she was toying with naming Killean but that we all had nicknamed “Turtle Squirt” due to the fact
that Shandie’s nickname all through growing up was “Turtle”, were both taken from us on November 6, 2016 by a senseless and tragic turn of events that should have never happened.

Shandie was born September 18, 1991, in Grand Junction to W. Boone Case and DeDee J. Case.

To list her achievements in life would take nothing short of a novel, as she found no limit to successfully accomplish as much as possible at all times and in everything she did: from being Freshman Class President at GJHS, to being a constant honor roll student who absolutely loved school, to being a lead member of the GJHS Teen Court Team, and which lead to being a member of the Grand Junction’s City Youth Council. The four-way stop light at 24 & G Road is present due to her unwavering demand for people’s safety at that intersection, and was something she was very proud of.

She attended Denver University, and then Denver Metro for a time. She worked for UPS in Grand Junction, then at their DIA hub, and then returned to Grand Junction to become their Preload Supervisor, while also working for CaseCo, L.L.C., a trucking company started and owned by her parents. She moved on to excelling at both becoming a licensed Realtor in Grand Junction under Toni Heiden and Heiden Homes Realty for selling and property management, as well as, for her own investment properties.

Moving back to Denver, she then owned and operated her own Farmers Insurance agency; it was also something she was very
proud of.

She and her fiancé moved back to our area where they were still investing and managing their own investment properties, while starting a new freighting company, and anxiously awaiting the arrival of their baby whom hadn’t been confirmed to be a boy, but we all just knew in our hearts he was….and he was!

Beyond all of her achievements, she had the biggest heart, and a joy coupled with laughter that was so contagious, everyone couldn’t help but love to be in her presence. Shandie knew no stranger, as her joy of life carried her from day to day. From family, to friends, to business associates, to just mere acquaintances, she touched us all, and will forever hold a special place in each of our hearts.
