Her Story

Sharon R. Brophy-Forst, 38, of New Ashford and a Lowell native who was a co-host of a morning show, died Thursday, Sept. 15, at Bay State Medical Center in Springfield, from complications during childbirth. She was the wife of Kyle D. Forst.

She was born in Lowell, March 22, 1967, daughter of Patricia (Fitzgerald) Brophy of Lowell, and the late Attorney Kenneth P. Brophy. She graduated from the Academy of Notre Dame in Tyngsboro in 1985. She received a bachelor of arts in communication in 1989, from Castleton College in Vermont.

Following graduation, Mrs. Brophy-Forst began her broadcasting career in Rutland, Vt., and later Claremont, N.H. She then worked as a broadcaster in central New York in the Cortland, Ithaca and Syracuse area. She was at WHMP-FM in Northampton, and then in Dover, Del. and Atlantic City, N.J.

Mrs. Brophy-Forst was currently the co-host of the morning show at WBEC-FM in Pittsfield.

Besides her husband and her mother, survivors include a daughter, Olivia Ruth Brophy-Forst; a brother, Mark D. Brophy and his longtime companion, Tracy Vokey, of Bartlett, N.H.; her mother-in-law, Linda (Hutchinson) Forst of Pitman, N.J.; her father-in-law, James W. Forst and his wife, Doris, of Voorhees, N.J.; a brother-in-law, Christopher J. Forst and his wife, Sarah, of Bristow, Va.; a niece, Catharine Forst; and a nephew, Brandon Forst.
