Her Story

Sarah Ellen Forslund of Nevada City, California, died suddenly of a massive stroke on June 16 at age 31.

Sarah is survived by her husband Thomas Mooers, and their infant son, Wesley Donald Forslund-Mooers and by her parents, Robert and Kathleen Forslund of La Crosse Wisconsin, her sisters and their husbands, Amy and Jason Markus of Silver Lake, Oregon, and Janet and David Dixon, their son, Michael, and daughter, Ellen, of Plainville, Massachusetts, and by her grandmother, Rita Purpora of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Also by her loving in-laws and their families, Donald and Stephanie Mooers of Piedmont, Michael Mooers of Oakland, and Jeffrey and Linda Mooers of Lafayette.

Sarah was a graduate of St. Benedict College in St. Joseph, Minnesota and Green Corps Field School for Environmental Organizing in Boston. She was a member of the Unitarian Universalist Community of the Mountains.

She worked in Vermont for Northern Forest Alliance and for California Futures Network and for Green Corps. She was a dedicated, caring and effective environmental advocate devoted to the betterment of our world. Sarah was a woman of strength, character, and grace whose presence, friendship, and love was shown in everything she did and was highly valued. She was dedicated to her family and her work and will be greatly missed by everyone who knew her.
