Born in Reading, she was a daughter of Clarence E. Lawson Jr. of West Palm Beach, Fla., and Elizabeth A. (Light) Richard of Reading, and a stepdaughter of Jennifer R. Lawson of West Palm Beach.
She was a Catholic.
