Who She Was

Her Story

Tierra “Toi” Walker was born on June 2, 1987, in San Antonio, Texas, and transitioned to glory on December 30, 2024. She was raised by her loving mother, Pamela Walker, and was affectionately known as “Toi” by her close friends and family. Growing up in a tight-knit family, Tierra was the eldest sister to Kirsten Walker-Byrd and often acted as a sister to many of her cousins.

Throughout her life, Tierra maintained her faith in the Lord and lived according to her beliefs. She was baptized at St. Stephen’s Baptist Church at a young age. Tierra loved to sing, dance, laugh, eat (except for chicken), play pranks on others, and deeply cherished her family and friends. She was grateful for life and all the blessings it brought her.

Tierra received her education in the public school system of San Antonio, attending W. W. White Elementary School, Davis Middle School, and graduating from Sam Houston High School in 2005. During her school years, Tierra was an active member of the Stars Dancers by DMA from 7th to 12th grade. She also participted in the Davis Middle School choir, was involved in JROTC, played soccer, and completed the cosmetology program at Sam Houston High School. Believing in the importance of higher education, she continued her studies at Our Lady of the Lake University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and later obtained her paralegal certification. Tierra also participated in the Walt Disney College Program in Orlando, Florida. She delighted in fun and maintained a love for adventure and learning throughout her life, pursuing whatever she set her mind to do with determination.

Tierra always dreamed of raising a family of her own. In 2010, she proudly welcomed her beloved son, Javon “JJ” Walker-Davis, into the world. She considered being a mother a tremendous blessing from God. Tierra was passionate about teaching and helping others. For several years, she worked at Tanya’s Little Christian Angel Academy as a special needs instructor, making a priceless impact on the students and youth she touched. Most recently, she was a dedicated employee of the City of San Antonio.

On April 20, 2024, Tierra married her husband, Eric Carson. Together, they shared a deep love that Tierra truly cherished. She excelled at creating a beautiful and gracious home for her family, including her beloved fur babies, Milo and Twinkle. Tierra valued her friendships, nurturing relationship at each stage of her life, many of which lasted throughout her lifetime. She maintained friendships from her childhood on the East side of San Antonio and was known not just for enjoying her friends but for being a good friend herself. Tierra always made it a point to check on her friends and family.

Tierra is survived by her husband, Eric Carson; her son, Javon Walker-Davis; and her fur babies, Milo and Twinkle. She is also survived by her mother, Pamela Walker; her sister, Kirsten Walker-Byrd; aunt LaTanya Walker; great uncle Clint Tyler; great uncle Ivan Walker; great aunt Karen Matthews; and great aunt Deborah Vaughn. She will be fondly remembered by a host of cousins, extended family, and friends whom she encountered during her thirty-seven years with us.
