Her Story
Rachel O’Neill’s (née Sharpe) age 31 spirit left this world Sept. 9, 2022, leaving behind family and friends grieving and wondering why. Rachel died at Lancaster General Hospital, 21 days after giving birth to her beautiful daughter, Liliana Rose, after suffering numerous complications following childbirth. Before she died, Rachel wanted more than anything to come home to her family and newborn daughter who she knew and loved for only a short time.
Rachel was born Oct. 8, 1990, in Scranton alongside her twin sister, Elizabeth, to Ann Flynn Sharpe. Rachel graduated from Scranton High School in 2009. She then received her Bachelor of Science from Marywood University where she also earned her R.D. (registered dietitian) certification.
Throughout college and several years afterwards Rachel worked at Target in Dickson City and Wilkes-Barre. During her professional career, she worked as clinical dietician for Highland Manor, Exeter, and most recently Senior Life, York.
In 2015 Rachel married her high school sweetheart and love of her life, Casey O’Neill. Rachel and Casey’s love for each other grew more and more each day throughout their 14-year partnership. They bought a beautiful home in Mount Joy, Pa., and looked forward to starting a family and a new chapter of their life when Rachel’s life was tragically cut short.
Rachel is survived by her beloved husband, Casey; mother, Ann Flynn Sharpe; sister, Beth Sharpe; mother-in-law, Nancy LaRoza; and her uncle, Sean and aunt, Maria Flynn, who loved Rachel like their own child. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Marina O’Neill, Noelle LaRoza; brother-in-law, Phalen O’Neill; cousins, Conor, Meghann, Brendan and Christian Flynn; nieces, Caitlin, Lindsey and Victoria; nephew, Hadrian; and friend, Paul Tomazic.
