    Her Story

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-story”]Margaret “Maggie” Gilbert, née DeBenedictis, 31, of Bridgewater, NJ passed away at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania on February 13, 2020, due to complications from childbirth. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends.

Maggie will be dearly missed by her adoring husband of three years, Ryan. Her legacy will live on through their beautiful son, Aiden Patrick, whom the couple welcomed into the world on February 10.

She leaves behind her loving parents, Andrew and Carol DeBenedictis of Point Pleasant, NJ; brother Andrew DeBenedictis; maternal grandparents, Joseph and Margaret Furmato; father and mother-in-law, Kevin and Stacey Gilbert of Bridgewater, NJ; and sisters, Kylie Gilbert and Erin Gilbert.

Maggie was cherished by her many aunts and uncles: Joseph and Mary Furmato, Mark and Judit Furmato, Jill and Jim Keough, Scott DeBenedictis, and Lisa and Fred DeFeo. She loved her close-knit relationship with her cousins, Jillian Keough, Andy DeFeo, Joseph and Erica Furmato, Christopher Furmato, Caroline Furmato, Alec Furmato, Erica Furmato, Nicholas Furmato, Paul Furmato, Stephanie and Matt Kernasovic, and Theresa Velardi Furmato. With her passing, she joins her uncles, Paul Furmato and Jayme DeBenedictis and her paternal grandparents, Andrew and Eleanor DeBenedictis in Heaven.

Maggie was born on October 17, 1988 in Long Branch, NJ. She graduated from Point Pleasant High School in 2007 and went on to earn her B.S. in accounting from Kean University, where she graduated summa cum laude. She also attended the MBA program at Georgian Court University. She went on to work in her field at Ferraro Foods in Piscataway, NJ.

She loved to watch and play tennis and was captain of the OCC State Championship team. As a water-lover and self-proclaimed ‘dolphin’, she loved to swim and be at the beach with her family. She loved traveling, going to the movies, and spending time with her husband in their new home.

All who encountered Maggie had the privilege of experiencing her infectious laugh and huge, kind heart. Maggie will always be remembered for how fiercely she loved her family and friends.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-links-header”]

    Her Story

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Emma Marissa McTiernan (Pond) (McGee), incredible mother & friend to all, passed away suddenly in the early hours of November 8, 2023, due to complications experienced during childbirth.

Emma was born on January 29, 1987, in Lima, Peru. Shortly after, she was adopted by her mother Kathleen Ann McGee (her hero) and brought to live in Saratoga Springs.

It was Saratoga where Emma truly called home. She graduated from Saratoga Springs High School in 2005 and attended SUNY Cobleskill and Adirondack Community College. In high school, she competed as a gymnast and was a cheerleader. At the time of her death, she was a Field Sales Representative at SSB Serta Simmons Bedding.  Prior to that, she was Personal Banker for Key Bank in Delmar, and a store manager for Mattress Firm in East Greenbush.

She was predeceased by her mother Kathy, her grandparents Richard and Olga McGee, and her aunt Mary Frawley. She is survived by her children Jack Pond and Finn Murphy McTiernan, her husband Joseph McTiernan, her brother Luke McGee, her extended family on the McTiernan side- Ariel Kraeling (Brandon), Meghan McTiernan, Caitlin McTiernan, Eileen McTiernan (Joseph), her uncles Bob Frawley (Marilyn), Dick McGee (Sally) and Mike McGee (Paula), and 5 cousins and their children. She is also survived by her former husband Mike Pond and his family, and her friends Kathryn Starczewski Browne-Lörcher (Conrad), Kevin Karr-McGraw, and Carlin DeMarinis.

Anyone who knew her would testify to her fabulous smile, love of music, selflessness and vibrant personality.  She seemed to be happy all the time, and she made you feel good just being around her. No words can express the loss felt by her family and friends. We can only find solace in that her two sons carry her spirit wherever they go.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-links-header”]

    Her Story

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Leah Newman, a former Harpo Entertainment executive and daughter of WME partner Robert Newman, died Nov. 24 in Los Angeles at the age of 33, two days after giving birth to a daughter.

In an unbelievably tragic turn of events, Leah Newman died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, just two days after the birth of her first child, Beatrice Violet. The family cited the cause of death as unknown postpartum complications. Baby Beatrice will be raised by Robert Newman and his wife, Cindy Newman. The family that includes Leah’s three younger sisters is devastated by the sudden loss.

“To know Leah was to love her. She was an extraordinarily loving, generous, and kind person; her big heart overflowed with compassion for humanity. Leah loved to sew, cook, travel and spend time with her family and friends. Leah’s greatest dream was to become a mother,” the family said in a statement.

Born in 1988 in South Florida, Leah Newman was raised in Beverly Hills, Calif. She worked in entertainment for Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Entertainment and other companies before making a career turn to become a speech pathologist. She worked for both Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Southern California Medical Center in Los Angeles.

In addition to her parents and her daughter, Leah is survived by sisters Sara, Jenna and Emma.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-links-header”]
