Who She Was
Her Story
Sharon Tierney LoMurro, 42, deeply beloved wife of Robert, and treasured mother of newborns, Robert Vito and Isabella Chiara of Mason Neck, Virginia, died February 25, 2009, at Potomac Hospital, Woodbridge, Virginia, from complications related to childbirth.
Sharon is survived by her adoring husband; a son and daughter — her twin gifts from God; and devoted mother, Veronica Neville. She was preceded in death by her loving father, the late William James Neville.
Sharon started this beautiful journey on July 18, 1966, in Hartford, Connecticut. Born into a loving home, her creativity, compassion, and love of life blossomed into full bloom, and she brought just that little bit of extra joy and peace to the world wherever she went. She loved horses and equestrian competition. Her tenacity, talent, and love for horses and riding brought her well deserved acclaim and recognition during her competitive years.
Her effortless grace, endearing charm, keen intelligence, razor wit, adorable playfulness, and stunning beauty rocked her husband-to-be in such a way as he was to never recover. He wooed her at Rollins College while she completed her undergraduate degree in International Affairs. An angel to be sure, she married Robert in 1996.
She was an artist at heart, and wove a rich tapestry of life during the all too brief but blessed marriage she and Robert shared. During their time together, they climbed to the top of Mt. Fuji, walked the ancient streets of Kyoto, explored the Mayan ruins of Chichen-Itza, stood atop the Duomo in Florence, were impressed by Michelangelo’s statue of David, delighted in the dark romantic ambiance of Venice, relished the natural beauty of Hawaii, climbed Diamond Head and snorkeled a protected reef, stood on the Cliffs of Moher while visiting the Emerald Isle, vacationed on the French Riviera enjoying Nice and Monte Carlo, were bemused by the peculiar weirdness of the “Conch Republic”, and were grateful to view the majesty of the northern Canadian Rockies at Banff.
Her love for the wonders of the world was only trumped by her love for others and for children. Her everlasting legacy, and God’s grace of her life, is Robert Vito and Isabella Chiara. All who knew her know what is written is true; to those who didn’t know her, know she actively helped make the world a better place. She was a light in the darkness, and will be sorely missed.
