    Her Story

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Lauren Ann Kaczmarek-Frer, 27, died on October 25, 2024; joining her perfect, beautiful and precious daughter Margaret “Maggie” Marie Frer who preceded her in death on October 14, 2024. Both died as a result of complications from childbirth.

Lauren and her husband, Nikolas Frer were eagerly awaiting the arrival of their daughter, Maggie; along big brother, Izaiah and extended family. Lauren had the gift of making connections, her presence left an indelible mark on every life she touched. She had the uncanny ability to bring comfort to those in need, and her legacy of love will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her spirit touched everyone she encountered.

Lauren was born on September 30, 1997 in Rockford; daughter of Margaret (Carlson) Kaczmarek. She graduated from Belvidere North High School, class of 2016. She graduated from University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee and she later became an Accredited Respiratory Therapist through Rock Valley College. She was employed at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital of Janesville; prior to her position there she was employed as a Respiratory Therapist at Advocate Sherman in Elgin. Lauren chose to become a Respiratory Therapist because her nurturing nature compelled her to help others. She devoted her life to ensuring that those around her could breathe easier, both literally and metaphorically. It was a calling that suited her perfectly, as she always put others first, prioritizing their needs and well-being above her own.

Lauren married her best friend and love of her life, Nikolas Frer on January 11, 2024. They enjoyed spending time together in nature; trail walking, hiking, camping and exploring state parks on weekends. As a wife, Lauren was simply the best. She had a unique way of making Nikolas’ days brighter, no matter the situation or circumstance. Whether they were celebrating life’s joys or navigating its challenges, she was his unwavering support and greatest cheerleader. Lauren was not just his partner; she was his best friend and his shoulder to lean on. Her laughter was his favorite sound, and her smile could light up the darkest of days.

Lauren had a deep bond with her dog, Blue, whom she called her “soulmate”. As a dog mom, she showered her furry friends with the same love and devotion she gave to everyone else. Nikolas had no doubt that she would have been the most incredible mother, showering their future children with the same warmth and kindness that she gave everyone. Lauren was an artist at heart, she was incredibly creative and skilled at making beautiful pieces out of resin; a talent she enjoyed sharing with others.

Lauren had a gift for making connections, and her presence left an amazing mark on every life she touched. She had an uncanny ability to bring comfort to those in need, and her legacy of love will forever resonate in the hearts of those who knew her. Nikolas’ heart aches with her absence, he has found solace in knowing that Lauren continues to give the gift of life to others, though her selfless decision to be an organ donor. Her spirit lives on in the lives she has saved and the countless people she inspired.

Lauren is survived by her husband, Nikolas; son, Izaiah Frer; mother, Peggy Kaczmarek; sister, Liz (Noah) Kort; grandmother, Mildred Kaczmarek; aunts and uncles, Jan Simone, Diane Wolff, Bobbi and Gary Scalora, Winnie and Katie Kaczmarek, Lisa and Steve Schmudlach and Cindy and Bill Rauscher; numerous cousins and extended family.

Lauren was preceded in death by her beautiful infant daughter Margaret Marie “Maggie” Frer and grandfather Winfred Kaczmarek.

Margaret is survived by her father, Nikolas Frer; brother, Izaiah Frer; grandparents; Christopher and Karla Frer, grandmother, Peggy Kaczmarek; aunts, Brianna Frer, Emily Frer, Liz (Noah) Kort; great-grandparents, Tina (Tom) Kopinski, and Jim (Jean) DiGellonardo; and extended family.

Margaret was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Winfred Kaczmarek.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-links-header”]

    Her Story

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Morgan Aubrey Hughes, age 23, passed away on December 28, 2024, at Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah, surrounded by her loving family. A resident of Benjamin, Utah, Morgan was a bright and loving soul who touched the lives of everyone she met.

Born to Brian Lawrence and Christine Elise Hodson, Morgan was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, wife, and mother. She was cherished by her grandparents, David and Lisa Butler, and Dennis and Diane Hodson, along with her brothers, Justin (and his wife Tiara) and Kaden, and several uncles, aunts, and extended family.

Morgan married the love of her life, Samuel Craig Hughes, on April 15, 2023. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and shared dreams. She was the devoted mother to their two children, Hudson Samuel Hughes and Georgia Elise Hughes, who were the light of her life and the fulfillment of her greatest dream: to be a mom. She often said it was “the most perfect job.”

A 2020 graduate of Lone Peak High School, Morgan went on to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Texas McAllen Mission, where she served Spanish- and ASL-speaking communities. She served faithfully and loved the people of McAllen, building strong and meaningful relationships with those she taught. Every companion she served with claimed Morgan was their favorite.

After her mission, she pursued her passion for the beauty industry and graduated from The Forum Academy in 2024. With her talent, creativity, and dedication, she had recently embarked on building her dream business, Bluebonnet Curls, with a mission to help others feel confident and beautiful.

Morgan’s radiant smile, compassionate heart, and endless love will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.

Morgan adored everything about Christmas and treasured the opportunity to create lasting memories with her family. She also loved country music and the beach. Her kindness, loyalty, creativity, and unwavering love for her family and friends made her a source of inspiration and joy to all who knew her.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-links-header”]

    Her Story

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Shannon Marie McCarthy Finn passed away suddenly on November 2nd at home in Chapel Hill, NC from complications related to pregnancy. She was seven months pregnant with her second child, Avery Grace Finn, who also passed. Shannon is remembered lovingly by her family and friends for her caring heart, genuine warmth, graceful leadership, lively intelligence, sharp wit, and gentle spirit. She was a light in this world, beautiful inside and out, sparkling and grounded at the same time.

Daughter of Deborah Love McCarthy and John Joseph McCarthy, and older sister of Hannah Grace McCarthy, Shannon was born on March 13, 1991, in Tampa, FL. She attended Corpus Christi Catholic School followed by the Academy of The Holy Names, an all-girls Catholic high school where she formed close, lifelong bonds. She was president of her senior class, captain of the dance team, National Honor Society member, and a leading member of the Latin Forum team. She served on two mission trips to West Virginia and was chosen homecoming queen at Tampa Jesuit High School for boys. Beloved by the AHN faculty and her classmates, she embodied the school’s motto, “Esse Quam Videri, (To Be Rather Than To Seem.)”

Shannon then attended the University of Florida where, in four-and-a-half years, she completed a bachelor of science degree in journalism and communications combined with a master of science in management and business in January 2013. She was a proud member of Delta Delta Delta sorority where she formed lifelong friendships with her sisters, and was a member of the Order of Omega, an honor society recognizing outstanding collegiate leaders.

Following her graduation from the University of Florida, she worked for four years as an account executive at Gartner Group, a technology consulting firm, first in Fort Myers and then later in Los Angeles. Her work ethic and talent earned her promotions and helped her qualify for an all-expenses-paid trip to Hawaii for top sales producers.

Shannon met the love of her life, Andrew Michael Finn, in 2015 in New York, and joined him in Manhattan Beach, CA the following year. The two then spent a year together exploring the world. Highlighted by a three-month adventure across Australia, their travels also included road trips in Europe, Bali, Antigua, Costa Rica and Japan. Shannon was an easy going traveler who loved new challenges and experiences.

In 2019, the couple settled down in New York City, where Shannon joined Salesforce as a senior account director. After the start of Covid, the couple moved to Chapel Hill, NC, and were married in an intimate family ceremony in March 2021. Their son, Thomas John (TJ), was born December 31, 2021.

Shannon loved being TJ’s mother, Andrew’s wife, and the life they were building together in their Chapel Hill community. She thrived in motherhood and this new chapter of her life. It was her greatest joy to create a loving family with Andrew, which came so naturally to them. She shared this fulfilling journey in “Mom Group Chat,” a podcast that Shannon developed with two close friends.

Shannon is survived by her husband, son, mother, father, sister, dog, and many other loving family members.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-links-header”]

    Her Story

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Megan Hays Gibb died unexpectedly in her home on February 6, 2024 at the age of 31. She was pregnant and near full term with her daughter, Bridget Ruth Gibb. Sadly, after an emergency delivery, Bridget passed on February 7, 2024 surrounded by her father, Connor Gibb, of Reston, VA, grandparents, and other family members.

Megan Hays Gibb, maiden name Megan Marie Hays, was born in Rockville, MD on October 28, 1992 to Christopher and Gretchen Hays. After graduating near the top in her class at The Academy of Holy Cross high school in Kensington, MD, she would go on to attend the Georgia Institute of Technology, where she earned her Bachelors in Civil Engineering and her Masters in Structural Engineering. Megan then moved to Seattle, WA in 2016 to join the firm of Magnusson Klemencic Associates (MKA) and later Graham Construction in 2020. It was in Seattle that she met her husband, Connor, in her parish’s bible study. After 3.5 years of dating, the two would go on to be married on December 10, 2022 at St. Dominic’s Church in Washington, DC. About a year later the couple would announce that Megan was pregnant with their daughter, Bridget Ruth. In January of 2024, Megan and Connor relocated to Reston, VA to be closer to family.

A devout catholic, Megan was very active at St. Joseph’s Parish in Seattle. She was a loving friend, sister, daughter, and wife. Megan was very proud of her work as a Structural Engineer and Project Manager. Some of her engineering projects included Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Chase Center in San Francisco, and Providence Portland Medical Center in Portland.

Megan was a lifelong athlete, growing up playing soccer and lacrosse. It was in high school that she discovered her love for rugby. After years of playing at the high school, college, and adult level, Megan retired from the sport in 2017. She would go on to be an assistant coach of the Seattle Mudhens women’s team and eventually a coach of the Panthers Youth Rugby Club. By all accounts, Megan was an excellent athlete, coach, and loved by all her teams.

Megan is survived by her husband, Connor, her parents, Christopher and Gretchen, and her younger brother, Nicholas (Libby).

Bridget is also survived by her father, Connor, her grandparents, Fred, Renée, Christopher, and Gretchen, and her uncles, Logan and Nicholas (Libby).[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-links-header”]
