Rochester, Minnesota
Alexandra “Allie” Porter Wahlig passed away on July 21, 2024, in Rochester, Minnesota, at the age of 29 from complications related to labor. Born on January 23, 1995, in Webster, Texas, Allie was the most passionate, kindhearted, and joyful person her friends and family had the honor of knowing.
Allie grew up in San Antonio, Texas where she attended high school at Antonian College Preparatory graduating in 2013. She then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering from Rice University in 2017 and her Juris Doctor from the University of Texas School of Law in 2020. Her passion for innovation, engineering, and the legal field propelled her into a fulfilling career as a licensed patent attorney. She worked as an associate at Norton Rose Fulbright where she quickly befriended a number of colleagues and became a valued member of the legal community in both Texas and Minnesota.
Allie’s professional accomplishments were significant, yet it was her personal life that truly defined her. She is survived by her loving husband, Brian Wahlig, and their cherished daughter, Emma Porter Wahlig. Allie was a dedicated daughter to her parents, Michelle (Sanchez) and Patrick Porter, and a nurturing and fun-loving sister to William and Elizabeth Porter. Her grandmother, Santos Porter, always held a special place in her heart. Allie’s in-laws, Joe and Laurie Wahlig, along with brothers and sister-in-law Stephen, Jack, and Abby Wahlig, will remember her in their hearts forever. Her beloved dog, Murphy, was a constant and faithful companion and never failed to put a smile on her face. Allie’s extended family and wide circle of friends will forever miss her warmth, kindness, and spontaneous phone calls or texts.
Allie’s love for life, friends, and family was evident in her many interests and the way she chose to spend her time. She was happiest surrounded by those she loved, whether it was enjoying a cup of coffee, shopping, going for a walk, visiting the farmers market, or simply sharing in the joy of everyday moments. She had a love for travel, always eager to explore novel places and celebrate special events with her loved ones. Brian hopes to one day show Emma many of the places he and Allie made lasting memories.
Allie’s impact on the world was profound, and her legacy will be carried on not only through Emma but also through the countless lives she touched with her vivacious spirit and compassionate heart. Her laughter, intelligence, and unwavering support for those she loved will be deeply missed. As we bid farewell to Allie, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest. She leaves behind a legacy of love, a blueprint for living life with purpose, and a reminder to cherish every moment we have with our loved ones. Rest in peace, sweet Allie. Your light will continue to shine in the hearts of those you have left behind. We are all so lucky to have had time with such an amazing woman.
