Who She Was
Her Story
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the untimely passing of Brooke Elizabeth (Weaver) Chambers, who left us far too soon on September 24, 2025. Brooke was born on November 9, 1991, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Kenneth R. and Lisa J. (Rodenbeck) Weaver.
Brooke dedicated her professional career to science, driven by a deep passion for discovery and a commitment to advancing knowledge in ways that could help others. Her journey as a scientist included many major contributions to the fields of molecular biology, nephrology, and medical devices through her dedication and expertise.
Brooke was preceded in death by her sister, Kelsey N. Weaver, and her paternal grandparents, Charles and Peggy Weaver.
Brooke is survived by her devoted husband, Joseph M. “Joe” Chambers, her daughter, Eleanor Grace Chambers, her siblings, Alex K. Weaver and Nicole E. Weaver, and her loving parents, Kenneth and Lisa Weaver. She is also survived by her maternal grandparents, Phil and Marcia Rodenbeck, her in-laws John and Jennifer Chambers, many extended family members including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews, and lastly, her labrador pups, Demo and Rockne.
Above all, Brooke’s greatest joy was her family. Her husband was her best friend and soulmate, and she looked forward with immense excitement to welcoming Eleanor, a dream she held closest to her heart. Brooke found happiness in the simple moments shared with her parents, siblings, and grandparents, creating memories that will forever be cherished.
Brooke excelled academically throughout her life, graduating Homestead High School with distinction while playing basketball, earning her bachelor’s degree with summa cum laude from the University of Saint Francis and ultimately, achieving her doctorate degree from the University of Notre Dame in Cellular and Molecular Biology. Brooke loved all things Notre Dame and thoroughly enjoyed cheering on the Irish during football season. She had a deep love for the outdoors and especially enjoyed spending time outside with her beloved pups.
Her favorite place was Florida where she would spend hours on the beach picking up shells, wading into the ocean, and searching for critters. More than anything, Brooke was an incredibly kind and compassionate person, with a way of making everyone she spoke to feel truly seen, special, and loved. Her family will miss her every day, treasuring the love, laughter, and light she brought into their lives.
