Who She Was

Her Story

Charlsie Marie Swadley, 34, entered into the gates of heaven at 5 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 17.

Charlsie suffered an amniotic fluid embolism on Dec. 11, 2014, during child birth. Her sweet baby, Lilian Rose, passed away shortly after, but Charlsie survived the complication and suffered severe brain damage as a result. After 37 days on life support, she was at last called home to her maker.

Charlsie was born on July 7, 1980, in Matehuala, Mexico, to Peter and Teresa Cawthon. She spent her childhood years residing in Oaxaca, Mexico, with her parents and younger brother, Peter Cawthon IV, where they served on the mission field.

After graduating high school, Charlsie moved away to San Antonio, Texas, to attend the University of Texas at San Antonio.

Soon after, she met and married Michael Swadley on May 14, 2001. Their wedding was an intimate gathering in Huatulco, Mexico, attended by both their immediate families.

Charlsie graduated from UTSA with a degree in early childhood development.

Michael and Charlsie moved back to Oaxaca to rejoin her parents on the mission field, where they served alongside them for a few years.

They moved back to Texas in 2007, where they lived briefly in Kerrville, Texas, and eventually moved to Tomball, Texas, where they currently resided with their seven children.

Charlsie was a beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was a true portrait of what Proverbs 31 describes as being a Godly woman. She was honest, genuine, driven and poured herself out diligently for her husband and children.

Charlsie loved her life as a stay-at-home mother, as well as home school teacher to her seven children. Always patient and full of grace, Charlsie modeled motherhood in a way that many others admired. She cared very deeply about her family as well as friendships, and she was always ready to help them at a moment’s notice.

On top of mothering, teaching and being a helpmate to her husband, she always took special care in providing herself and her family with the most holistic, natural lifestyle.

Charlsie is survived by her husband, Michael Swadley; and their seven children, Micah (11), Maddie (9), Lainey (7), Josiah (6), Uriah (4), Asher (3) and Amelia (almost 2). She also is survived by her parents, Peter Cawthon III and Teresa Cawthon; brother, Peter Cawthon IV; grandparents, Peter Cawthon II and Charlsie Cawthon; aunts and uncles, David and Nancy Cawthon and Mark and Celia Cawthon; and cousins, Josh Cawthon, Rose Clark, Gabe Mateos, Cristina Holcomb, Ana Wells, Tim Cawthon, Chris Cawthon, Katie Cheatheam and Kellie Cawthon.
