Julia Louise Burdette Duvall

August 16, 1986 – April 11, 2016

Oakland, California


She had carried her unborn child nearly full-term when Julia Louise Burdette Duvall died of apparent heart failure April 11, 2016. Her son died also. He was to have been named Liam Avery.

The Burdette family lived in Guntersville during elementary school years before moving to the Los Angeles area. She was a graduate of UCLA where she was a member of the marching band.

After being involved in a serious bicycle accident in Oakland where she and Dan lived, she was working for the Bike East Bay Women’s Bike Program, which helped create safer and more comfortable bicycling facilities for people of all ages and abilities and made efforts to inspire more women to bike.

She was the wife of Daniel Duvall, the daughter of Susan Cook and Avery Burdette, and the sister of Lenny and Rachael Burdette. She was the niece of Mimi Yarbro (Jim) and Regina Burdette Shepherd (Doug) and Ginger Cook Castleberry.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Mildrey and Avery Lenoir (Tiny) Burdgee and Mrs. Louise Cook.
