Kalee Joy-Barton

Kalee Joy-Barton, RN

November 3, 1986 – September 18, 2016

Canyon, Texas

It is with broken hearts that we announce the death of Kalee Joy-Barton in the early morning of Sunday, Sept. 18, 2016. She was surrounded by loved ones as she journeyed into Heaven. Kalee was 29 years old.

Kalee was born in Amarillo, Texas on Nov. 3, 1986, to Kenny and Kathy Joy. She was the youngest of three children, and her two older brothers loved her intensely. Kalee grew up in Canyon, Texas and graduated from Canyon High School in 2005. She attended Abilene Christian University prior to obtaining her Nursing Associates at Amarillo College in 2009. She found this to be her calling. While working as a nurse, most recently for the Family Medicine Center in Canyon, Texas, she touched so many lives. She was deeply loved by her co-workers and most importantly to her, the patients that she worked with.

Also in 2009, Kalee found her greatest passion in being a mother to her daughter, Addisyn. From the day she was born, Addisyn has been her mother’s best friend and sidekick. Addisyn is a mirror image of her mother and has the same infectious personality. Being a mother to Addisyn was Kalee’s life, it was what she lived for, and she was a beautiful and amazing mother. Kalee and Addisyn lived in Canyon, Texas for seven years before God changed their lives forever. In May of 2016, Kalee married Cy Barton on a West Texas ranch outside of Matador, Texas. Cy and Kalee completed one another, and Cy completed their family. Kalee and Cy’s love for one another was transcendent and inspiring. There is no doubt that God led the two of them together for a reason. Their small family settled in Lubbock, Texas.

In Sept. of 2016, Kalee and Cy gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, Cru Barton. Cru arrived to this world early and spent his first couple of weeks in the NICU in Lubbock. In her style, Kalee impacted the lives of even the doctors and nurses at the NICU during their brief stay. Her infectious spirit and motherly love attracted others to her. Kalee was able to take Cru home from the hospital on the Friday before her death. For just over twenty-four hours, her perfect story had been painted by the brush of God. Before making the journey to Heaven, Kalee held her baby boy, kissed her daughter goodnight, kissed her husband goodnight and laid peacefully and content in the walls of the home she had dreamt of all her life.

Kalee was preceded in death by an older infant sister, Kristen, who will lay beside her for eternity.

Survivors include her husband, Cy Barton of Lubbock, her daughter, Addisyn, her son, Cru; her loving mom and dad, whom she was their princess; her brothers, Kyle Joy and wife, Katie, and Kevin Joy and wife, LeaAnn; several nieces and nephews that loved and admired her; and countless friends and family that loved her deeply.
