Who She Was
Her Story
Kenya L. Ellis, 29, and Kylin W. Ellis, infant, both of South Bend, Indiana, were called home early morning of Monday, March 18, 2013. She was born February 12, 1984, to Kenneth W. Ellis and Davetta A. Davidson.
Kenya was a very outgoing person who touched the hearts of many, and one thing we will remember is that beautiful smile. Kylin was not able to bless us with his wonderful presence long, but he will live on as a little bundle of joy. As we all know, all Kenya wanted was for her baby to get here and to be a wonderful mother.
Kenya and Kylin leave to cherish their memories her parents, Davetta A. (Raymond) Davidson of South Bend, Indiana, and Kenneth W. (Dawn) Ellis of Peru, Indiana; maternal grandmother, Essie Frazier of South Bend, Indiana; paternal grandmother and foster mother, Dorothy Ellis of South Bend, Indiana; paternal grandfather, James (Mary) Ellis Sr. of University Park, Illinois; maternal great-grandmother, Mary Smith; four aunts, Denyse (Danny) Kirk, Lisa Ellis of South Bend, Indiana, Carole Frazier of Atlanta, Georgia, and Janice Ellis of Chicago Heights, Illinois; three uncles, Larry J. (Diane) Williams of Cincinnati, Ohio, James Ellis Jr. of South Bend, Indiana, and Maurice Ellis of University Park, Illinois; seven sisters, Syreeta Hyde, Yolanda Davidson, Yvonda Davidson, Lashaunda Davidson, Kaylynn Davidson, Alicia Easton, all of South Bend, and Audrianna Evans of Peru, Indiana; eight brothers, Deshawn Davidson, Derek Davidson & Kenyon Williams, all of South Bend, Indiana, Keith (Shamon) Ivory of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Casey Gorule of Kokomo, Indiana, Micheal James Ellis and Jordan Christopher Ellis of Peru, Indiana; special cousins, Rosie Redding, Zhna DeBerry (Gregory), and Kevin Kirk (cu-cu), all of South Bend, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews who will miss them dearly; special friends, Jerika Henderson, Nicole Baker, Takeia Buck, Toccara Griffin (Marcel) and Nicole Beasley, all of South Bend, Indiana; and one very special male friend who stood by Kenya through anything, Mr. Charles Shepard of South Bend. Not only were they cousins, they were adoptive sisters and brothers of Kenya Ellis: Shardae “Dae-Dae” Lewis, Donte Perry and Shalonda Ellis, all of South Bend, Indiana.
Kenya and Kylin were preceded in death by maternal great-great-grandmother, Ella “Bay” McKinney; paternal great-grandmother, Cremolia “Gram” Lusk; paternal great-grandfather, Larkin T. Lusk; maternal grandfather, Willie Smith; one brother, Delvon Davidson of South Bend; one son, Jason Hicks Jr.; and one daughter, Makiyah Ann Boyd, all of South Bend; and a host of family and friends, who will miss Kenya and Kylin so much.
