Lori Kay Bruesch Mitchell

September 26, 1989 – June 21, 2004

Lori Kay Mitchell passed away Monday evening, June 21, 2004 at Providence St. Peter Hospital. She died from complications of childbirth. Her loving husband and son were by her side. Before her passing, Lori gave her family a beautiful newborn boy on Father’s Day, and she was overjoyed with the time she spent with her new son and husband.

Lori was born September 26, 1969 in Olympia. She graduated from Olympia High School in 1988 where she was a cheerleader and participated in the band. She attended Central Washington University earning a Bachelor of Arts – Spanish in 1992. She lived in Madrid, Spain for a year while obtaining her Master’s Degree in Spanish from New York University, Madrid Division. Lori began her career at Hoquiam Middle School, then taught Spanish for many years at Curtis Junior High School in University Place. She recently moved her career to Yelm High School. She also taught at Pierce College. She loved teaching and cared deeply for her students.

Lori loved preserving family memories in scrapbooks. Mickey Mouse was her favorite collectible. She was a deeply loving woman, cheerful, quick to smile, quick to forgive and one who had a bottomless giving heart. Lori’s generosity, humor, thoughtfulness, sensitivity and steadfast support to all will be greatly missed by her family, friends and students.

Lori is survived by her devoted husband, Jordyn Neil Mitchell, her son, Connor Jacob, her mother Sandra Kay (Glenn J. Ackerman) Wilson, sister, Mandi Kay (Joseph A. Whiteley) Wilson, stepfather, Manuel J. Wilson, her father, Alan W. Bruesch, stepmother, Kandy A. Bruesch, and sister Tiffany Bruesch. She is also survived by father-in-law and mother-in-law, Robert A. and Linda K. Mitchell, her sister and brother-in-law, Marci L. and Scott P. Carte. Also surviving are five well-loved cats- Mickey, Emma Lou, Socks, Marleigh, and White Kitty. Lori is also survived by her church family at Sunbreak Missionary Baptist Church.
