    Her Story

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Leah Newman, a former Harpo Entertainment executive and daughter of WME partner Robert Newman, died Nov. 24 in Los Angeles at the age of 33, two days after giving birth to a daughter.

In an unbelievably tragic turn of events, Leah Newman died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, just two days after the birth of her first child, Beatrice Violet. The family cited the cause of death as unknown postpartum complications. Baby Beatrice will be raised by Robert Newman and his wife, Cindy Newman. The family that includes Leah’s three younger sisters is devastated by the sudden loss.

“To know Leah was to love her. She was an extraordinarily loving, generous, and kind person; her big heart overflowed with compassion for humanity. Leah loved to sew, cook, travel and spend time with her family and friends. Leah’s greatest dream was to become a mother,” the family said in a statement.

Born in 1988 in South Florida, Leah Newman was raised in Beverly Hills, Calif. She worked in entertainment for Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Entertainment and other companies before making a career turn to become a speech pathologist. She worked for both Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Southern California Medical Center in Los Angeles.

In addition to her parents and her daughter, Leah is survived by sisters Sara, Jenna and Emma.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-links-header”]

    Her Story

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-story”]Andrea Jo Franklin, 35, of Bourbonnais, IL, went home to be with Jesus on March 7, 2025, following unexpected postpartum complications. She was born on August 11, 1989, in Watseka, IL. A beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend, Andrea made everyone she came in contact with feel special.

Andi graduated from Olivet Nazarene University with her bachelor’s degree in 2010 and Lasell University with her master’s in 2013. Later, she returned as a professor in the communication department at Olivet. She loved investing in her students, not just as a teacher, but as a mentor and encourager. Her heart for service extended beyond the classroom—she worked for many years in hospice care, offering comfort and presence in life’s hardest moments. She also served with Administer Justice, helping provide legal care to those in need within local communities. Andi’s life was filled with constant giving—of her time, her talents, and her heart.

Andi lived with a heart wide open. She loved fiercely, laughed easily, and encouraged others with a sincerity that left an imprint on everyone she met. She was often described as compassionate, determined, and deeply faithful, not just in words but in the way she walked through life—meeting people where they were and lifting them up. She touched more lives than we will ever know, and to be loved by Andi was to be truly seen.

Above all else, Andi loved being a mom. Her greatest joy was found in nurturing her children, filling their world with creativity, warmth, and stories. A captivating storyteller, she had a way of drawing people in, whether through the pages of a book, the lens of her camera, or the way she painted moments with words. She was an artist at heart, finding beauty in the everyday through watercolor painting and photography. She turned her love for capturing moments into a photography business, preserving memories not just for her own family, but for so many others.

Andi could always be seen with a Polar Pop or McDonald’s Coke in hand, a small but perfect reflection of her easy going spirit. She had a way of making people feel at home, whether through deep conversations, infectious laughter, or the simple joy of sharing a meal. She will be remembered not only for what she did but for who she was—a light in the lives of so many. Though our hearts are shattered, we do not mourn without hope. We trust that Andi is in the presence of Jesus, and we will carry her love forward, honoring her legacy in the way we live, love, and serve others.

Andi was preceded in death by her grandparents Andrew Hassen, Gloria Hassen, and Everett Knake. She is survived by her loving husband, Luke; their five beautiful children, Gabriel, Eliana, Graham, Victor, and Josie; her parents, Thomas and Judy McCann; her siblings, Kelly (Brett) Hull, Wade (Meagan) McCann, and Emily (Caleb) Parker; her niece and nephew, Audra and Nolan; her grandmother, Dorothy Knake. She also leaves behind a host of extended family members, in-laws, numerous nieces and nephews, dear friends, and students whose lives she touched.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-links-header”]

    Her Story

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-story”]Kelsey Renea Bourdon (née Beabout), 35, of Elkhart, died on Thursday, Jan. 24, 2025, from a series of rare medical complications after giving birth to a beautiful baby girl on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025. In life, Kelsey was a fiercely loving mother, wife, daughter, sister, niece, cousin and friend.

Kelsey was born Sept. 5, 1989, at Barksdale Air Force Base in Louisiana to Jodi and Perry Beabout. After living in several U.S. states and Slovakia, Kelsey graduated from Concord Community High School in 2008. She went on to study nursing at Hope College. She married Tyler Bourdon of Elkhart, Indiana, on Jan. 25, 2014. In 2019, she earned her Master of Public Health from Indiana Wesleyan University.

Kelsey was deeply sensitive and empathetic. She was a follower of Jesus and always did her best to extend kindness and grace. This made her shine in her years as a nurse at Elkhart General Hospital, where she worked in oncology, labor and delivery, the neonatal intensive care unit, and the ambulatory infusion center. After becoming a mother, this empathy and love infused every decision she made in parenthood.

Throughout her life, Kelsey also loved music and dance. She enjoyed taking trips with her family and dreamed of revisiting Slovakia someday with her husband and kids.

Kelsey’s life impacted countless people who loved and will miss her. Even in death, she was generous, donating her heart, lungs, pancreas, liver and kidneys. The tragic end to her story has set off an outpouring of love and generosity from her circle of family and friends as well as the larger community of nurses and mothers. She is survived by her children, Theodore (7), Henry (4), and Evelynn (newborn); husband, Tyler; mother, Jodi Beabout; sister, Leandra (Cameron Bradley) Beabout; brother, Ethan (Claire) Beabout; grandparents Ronald (Ronnie) and Joanne Keith of Fenelton, Pennsylvania; father-in-law Joel and mother-in-law Dané Bourdon; sister-in-law Angela (Michael) Hahn; sister-in-law Brynne (Jon) Faloon; brother-in-law Logan (Saige) Bourdon; several nieces and nephews; and a loving community of extended family and dear friends around the world.

Kelsey was preceded in death by her dad, Perry Beabout, her nephew, Hawke Faloon, her grandparents William and Delores Beabout, Dale (Tony) Bourdon, Daniel Logan, and two uncles, Dennis Rodgers and Jeffrey Smith.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-links-header”]
