    Her Story

    [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]

Devoted wife, proud mother, and beloved teacher, Donna Kay (Schluckebier) Whitney, age 32, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at Regional West Medical Center, following a sudden illness.

Donna was born on March 21, 1992, to Charlie and Evelyn (Lines) Schluckebier. She grew up outside of Palisade, Nebraska with her brother, Danny, beloved dog, Max, and many other critters. She and her family were active in the community and in the Palisade Methodist Church. She was involved with many extracurricular activities and graduated from Wauneta-Palisade High School in 2010. Donna started college that fall as an honor student at the University of Nebraska at Kearney where she majored in elementary education and made friends with everyone she met.

She was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis when she was eighteen and became active in raising awareness and funds for research. Donna graduated college early in December of 2013 and took a temporary teaching job in the dead of winter in Healy, Alaska. She loved that adventure and loved Alaska. She then came home to Nebraska and began teaching second grade in Sidney. Donna was passionate about teaching and working with kids, so much so, that she decided to become a foster parent for a brief time. Donna obtained a master’s in education in 2020.

She met her husband, Shane, and they were married in May of 2022. She was thrilled to have found such a good match in Shane. She continued to teach elementary school in Gering. Donna and Shane welcomed their beautiful daughter, Evelyn, into the world in December of 2022. Evelyn was the light of Donna’s life, and she was made to be a mother. She was so excited to find out she was pregnant with another little girl in the spring of 2024.

Donna was determined to live life to the fullest and did just that. She and Shane had a farm with many different types of animals, and she enjoyed caring for all of them. She never said no to a stray dog or a snake on the side of the road. Donna liked country music and even named one of her pick-ups, “Phil Vassar”. She truly did light up any room she walked into, her sense of humor was unmatched and could brighten anyone’s day. No matter what she had going on she would make time for people if they needed it. Her absence will be mourned by many. She loved Jesus and his people.

Survivors include her husband, Shane Whitney; daughter, Evelyn Whitney; father, Charlie Schluckebier; brother, Danny (Desi) Schluckebier; mother-in-law, Rhonda Whitney; father-in-law, Wayne Whitney; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Roland (Krissy) Whitney, Wes (Cheri) Whitney, Renee Whitney and Ross (Danielle) Whitney; along with many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, former students, and friends.

Donna was preceded in death by her amazing mother, Evelyn; and brother, Paul. Her anxiously awaited second daughter accompanied Mommy to Heaven.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-links-header”]

    Her Story

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=””]Christine Marie Janicki (Yonker), born December 13th, 1989, tragically passed away on Tuesday, March 19th 2024, along with her baby boy, Xavier Ignatius. Chris was the love of her husband, David’s life while they were married for over 6 breathtaking years. Together they have two beautiful children, Jackson(6) and Theodore(3). Chris was the most deeply loving mother you could find, raising and guiding her children to be incredible young boys. Chris was a bedrock and footing for conversations for life’s curveballs for her mother Patricia Gulis-Yonker, and a huge support for her sister Kimberly Yonker. Chris was a beloved daughter to Edwin Yonker.

Chris graduated from Western Michigan University in 2012 and worked as a Registered Dietitian helping care for those in long term care facilities. She took such great joy in communicating with patients and understanding how she could help them. After working for a while, she elected to stay home with her boys and give them the best upbringing possible, which she did with absolute flying colors.

There will be no way to replace the hole Chris left. Her presence was peaceful, her laugh was contagious, and her kindness was something admired by everyone. Chris loved her family so very deeply, and the precious time spent will be remembered forever. There was no limit to the steps she would take to help those around her and her generosity was effortless.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text css=”” el_class=”profile-links-header”]

Olivia was a smart, sweet, sassy, and perfect girl from an early age. She always knew what she wanted and was determined to get it. She was a Wildflower in a field of roses, loved and adored by her Horrie & Miller families, as she loved and cherished them.

Olivia attended St. Mary School, and DeKalb District Schools, graduating from DeKalb High School in 2017. Along the way, she played soccer, and softball, danced on the Pom/Dance team, and attended the Hillcrest Covenant Youth program where her love for God grew and grew. Along her journey, Olivia met Cameron at Hope College and married him in October of 2021. Olivia and Cameron began their marriage living in Southwest Michigan. In May of 2023 their beautiful daughter Haven Ann-Nicole was born. Olivia immediately was a natural Mother to Haven, who she loved and adored beyond measure. At the beginning of 2024, Olivia and Cameron learned that they were expecting a baby boy in September who would complete their perfect family.

Olivia was the most thoughtful and caring woman on the planet. She loved her friends, her family, and her husband and daughter more than anything in the world. Olivia put the needs of so many before her own and was a beacon of light for people when they needed it the most. Olivia, we recognize all your hard work, your commitment to your family, and all that you gave to those around you. We miss you dearly.
